Miguel Angel González Merchá

Theoretical Foundation: Dad told me that he would go to live in the country because the world would end and it was time to take care of the land, which is what provides us with food and keeps us alive. After 13 years of leaving the city, it seems that his omen is beginning to come true. Mom followed him later, the chaos of the capital, the sick. My brother rebelled against the company he worked for and decided to start from scratch in the fields, he says: "all professions are important but they are useless without the farmer, true wisdom lies in the peasants." However, the abuses of people who work in the fields continue, many years have passed and there is still displacement, wars, expropriation, extractivism. It seems that we are condemned to oblivion and still neither the governments, nor the population of the cities, see the importance of the farmer, although several movements of urban gardens are beginning to form, it still remains an insignificant percentage of the demand that exists.

6-General artist statement (maximum 150 words)

I am a visual artist and cultural manager. Beyond the artistic medium, he used art as an excuse to question identity and power, concepts that I articulate with violence, politics, the environment, and the use of psychoactive substances. I try to break into my context through poetics, using my research discourse as a bridge for reflection on current life.
From the above I have worked through different techniques; performance, video, video art, printmaking, digital art, painting, sculpture, poetry, writing, photography, drawing, themes
such as: sexuality, patriotism, mediatization, violence, state policies. These plastic exercises, are a search to question the collective constructs in a satirical way from my aesthetic point of view, to approach a deconstruction of identity.
