Mirosław Maszlanka

Works from the series "Z Nad" relate to the processes taking place in the formation of amber. Fragments of plants immersed in wax penetrate the light, drawing shapes and colors. The community of matter, their golden color, is connected by the bridge of time.

6-General artist statement (maximum 150 words)

“SCULPTURE by Miroslaw Maszlanko.

(…) There has been written that creations of Maszlanko undoubtely have poetic values, that the order that Maszlanko creates is fully different from the one that dominates in everyday life and his works reminds nests of birds or cocoons of insects. That he makes specific mitologisation of the materiał that hee works with and the nature is the Carrier of sacrum for Maszlanko. That finally he creates his sculptures aside from the present-day of the contemporary culture whereas Maszlanko in his works is full of humility for what is beautiful, ephemeric and fragile.

The ability of the artist to combine the states and objects that are not easy to connect amaze me. This is the path choosen by great creators of the time passed but also the contemporaneity. It's the ability to combine a night and a day, a light and a darkness like in the paintings of Rembrandt. It's the ability to combine powerfull metaphor of a fire and a water like in the instalations of Bill Viol. It's the ability to catch the concept and it's visual referent like in works of Joseph Kosuth”.
